To ease navigation, the family names have been split into the following groups:

These family groups are joined at various grafting points to form a combined tree, but as this is very large, it cannot be shown here. However, the individual family group names can be seen in a tree format as a pdf document by clicking here (Adobe Acrobat Reader required).

The family relationships page hopefully explains the various terms such as second cousin or third cousin twice removed that often crop up in family reports.

The maps on the surname profiles page show the distribution of the family group surnames for 1881 and 1998 that have been copied from the Surname Profiler Project web-site of the University College of London.

Various pages of the history of the Britains Toy Company, founded by William Britain (#303), are also available.

Copies of various family photo's can be seen from links on the photo's page & there are also copies of old maps (in pdf format) that are relevant to some of the individuals in the files.

The Can You Help page is a collection of missing links or photos of unknown people that could relate to the family. If you think you can help identify anyone then please contact me via e-mail
